The DeepField editorial team consists of working astrophotographers imaging from Bortle 4 to 7 skies. We own and operate the gear we review, run PHD2 on our mounts, and process narrowband data from the suburban backyard.
What we score on
Every pick is judged on the same criteria. We weight them by what actually matters for the way you will use the gear, then write up the tradeoffs honestly.
Tracking accuracy
Measured peak-to-peak periodic error in arcseconds under guided and unguided conditions.
Payload practicality
Imaging load tested at 50 to 60 percent of rated capacity with a full accessory train.
